SRD Status Check - Step by Step

Follow these six steps to check your SASSA SRD R370 status on the official portal. Takes about 2 minutes start to finish.

  1. 1

Open the official SASSA SRD status page

Go to https://srd.sassa.gov.za/sc19/status in your browser. This is the only official URL for checking SRD status. Bookmark it to avoid scam look-alikes.

  2. 2

Enter your South African ID number

Type in your 13-digit ID number exactly as it appears on your green ID book or smart card. No spaces, no dashes. If the system says 'invalid', double-check each digit.

  3. 3

    Enter your registered cellphone number

Enter the cellphone number you provided when you first applied for the SRD. It must be in the format 0XXXXXXXXX (10 digits, starts with 0). If you have changed phones, update the number first via the change-phone-number process.

  4. 4

Confirm the OTP sent to your phone

SASSA sends a 6-digit one-time PIN by SMS to the registered cellphone. Type it into the OTP field. The PIN expires in a few minutes - request a new one if it does not arrive within 60 seconds.

  5. 5

Read your status for the current month

The portal displays your status for the current month at the top: Approved, Pending, Declined, Paid, or one of the verification states. Below the current month, you can see the same breakdown for every prior month since you applied.

  6. 6

Take action based on the status

Approved means you wait for payment. Declined shows the reason - you can appeal within 90 days. Pending means wait 5-15 working days. Bank Details Pending means submit your banking info to receive payment.

What you will see on the portal

The status page is organised as a vertical list of months. Each month has a status badge (Approved, Declined, Pending, Paid) and a short detail line underneath. The current month is shown first.

If a month says Declined, the line below shows the reason - for example "Means Income Source Identified" or "UIF Registered". Each reason has a specific fix, which you can read about on our decline reasons page.

Prefer a quick lookup instead? Use the status decoder. For a full reference, read the complete status check guide.
