Want to check your SASSA? Here's the easy way.

You don't need to phone anyone, queue at an office, or pay someone to do it for you. Checking your SASSA SRD R370 takes about two minutes from your phone, and it's free.

Tap here to check it now:

Open the SASSA site →

You'll need your ID number and the cellphone you used when you first applied.

What you're going to see

When the page loads, you'll see one of a few things. Here's what each one means in plain English:

  • "Approved"- You're getting paid this month. Sit tight, the R370 is on its way.
  • "Pending" - SASSA is still busy checking. Give it a week or two and check again.
  • "Declined"- Something didn't pass the check this month. The page tells you what. Don't panic - you can appeal.
  • "Paid"- Money's already on its way to your bank or to Pick n Pay or wherever you chose.
  • "Bank Details Pending"- SASSA wants to pay you but doesn't know how. Time to add your bank account on the portal.

Stuck? Try one of these.

If the website isn't working (it gets really busy on payday), here are other ways to check:

  • Dial *134*7737# - it's free.
  • WhatsApp 082 046 8553.
  • Call 0800 60 10 11 - it's also free.

You asked, we answered

I forgot my phone number for SASSA - what do I do?
Phone SASSA on 0800 60 10 11 (free from any network) and tell them you need to update the cellphone number on your SRD application. You will need your ID number. Once it is updated, you can check your status from the new phone.
I checked and it says declined - is it over?
No, not at all. You have 90 days to appeal a decline, and most successful appeals come from people who simply explained what the bank deposit actually was. Read the reason on the portal, gather your evidence, and submit an appeal.
My friend got R370 but I didn't - why?
SASSA does fresh checks each month. Even people who applied at the same time can have different results based on their income, UIF status, or bank activity that month. The system is automatic and checks each person individually.
