Where to Collect Your SASSA Payment

SASSA grants can be collected from various locations. Your payment is available from the scheduled date onwards - you do not have to collect on the exact day.

Bank Accounts

If your grant is paid into a bank account (ABSA, Capitec, FNB, Nedbank, Standard Bank, TymeBank), the money is usually available from early morning on the payment date.

SASSA Card at Retailers

If you use a SASSA card, you can withdraw at Shoprite, Pick n Pay, Boxer, Usave, and other participating retailers from store opening time on the payment date.

Post Offices

Post office collections are available from the payment date during normal operating hours. Bring your SASSA card and ID document.

SASSA Pay Points

SASSA community pay points operate on specified dates. Check with your local SASSA office for the exact times and locations in your area.

Tips for the April Payment Period

1

Plan around Easter

Banks and retailers may have reduced hours over the Easter weekend (3-6 April). If you need cash, try to collect before Good Friday or wait until Tuesday 7 April.

2

Avoid peak hours

Payment days are busiest at retailers and ATMs from opening until midday. If possible, collect later in the day or the following day to avoid long queues.

3

Check your new amount

This is the first month with increased amounts. Verify that your payment reflects the new amount. If it still shows the old amount, contact SASSA at 0800 60 10 11.

4

Freedom Day SRD payment

27 April is Freedom Day. If the SRD payment is moved to Friday 24 April, check your account from that date. SASSA typically announces any changes via SMS.

Payment Not Received?

If your payment date has passed and you have not received your grant, do not panic. Here is what to do:

  • -Wait until the end of the business day - processing times vary
  • -Check your balance at an ATM or via your banking app
  • -Dial *120*3210# to check your payment status via USSD
  • -Call the SASSA helpline at 0800 60 10 11
  • -Visit your nearest SASSA office if the issue persists after 5 working days
